Bought a pair of Meyle OEM replacement transmission mounts from FCP Groton for $15 each(!). Tried to follow below guide but got stuck.

Getting the two outer 13mm bolts were no problem. But in my 3.0 Quattro even with heat shields bent up an inch above the mount, there is absolutely no space to put a wrench up top to remove the center 17mm nut at bottom. Nor is there room from what I can see to feed the center bolt through the new mount even if I was able to get it in there.

Help? Thanks in advance!

i believe the DIY is for manual cars... transmission size might be different (smaller) from the tiptronic. the easiest solution would be to sell the car and to buy an E30

Figured out how to get to top center 17mm bolt of the mount. With wheel off on either side of the car, the mount is easily accessible behind the axle. With head shield bent away, a wrench can easily be put in while someone ratchet off the nut from bottom of the mount. I presume (will confirm when I do it) that with the heat shield bolts removed, this will provide the space to pull the bolt out once nut is removed from bottom. Then jack up the transmission, slip out old mount, slip in new, insert 17mm bolt, hold it with wrench while someone tightens nut at bottom. Lastly tighten the two side 13mm bolts on each mount.
