Default Any Former BMW Owners Regret Not Having A BMW?

I'm down to deciding between an Audi A6 3.0 and BMW 530i. BMW owners rave about the incredible handling BMWs are known for and how much fun it is to drive a BMW. For you ex-BMW owners, do you regret not having your BMW any longer? Thanks.

Default You mean would I prefer to have both versus just Audi? Of course!

I had a 1991 318i (entry level). It was a starkly practical and "connected" feeling car to drive.

Default "No way! BMW's are overpriced and they lack Quattro........

BMW owners are stuck-up ****** and there's no way I want to be associated with those arrogant SOB's. The A6 has Quattro and the BMW 5-series doesn't. The 5-series are way too common and the A6 has Quattro. I like the unique look of Audi's and they have Quattro. The A6 interior looks nicer than BMW's and the BMW's lack Quattro. The A6 has way more room in the back seat and trunk and, as an added bonus, the A6 has Quattro. PLUS- the A6 is way more bang for your buck, which is surprising since it has Quattro and the BMW doesn't.

Now I will admit my A6 is a little slower than say, the BMW 540, but that's because it's heavier due to the Quattro. Fortunately, it rains and snows every day where I live, so I'm able to smoke BMW's at every light. Why?- because of Quattro!"

There, I saved you guys a lot of typing. :-)

Default BMW-less after 25 years!

I've owned four BMWs, starting with a '73 3.0CS. I bought my '00 A6 2.7T instead of another bimmer for three reasons. First, more car for the money. A 530i would cost more, and provide less. I was impressed by the Spring 2000 Car & Driver comparo that rated the 2.7T ahead of the BMW. Yes, BMWs handle well, but with the sports package, the Audi is real close. And the Audi interior can't be beat. Second, there are too many BMWs out there! I guess I like a little exclusivity; in the DC area, it seems like there are more BMWs than Toyotas. Third, I'm sold on Quattro. Our other car was a '87 5000 quattro (just replaced by a 2002 A4 3.0), and the solid feeling and traction from AWD can't be beat.

Default Sort of... I think it depends on what you're looking for...

If you want a rear wheel drive german car that is sporty, get the BMW. I don't think they are too overpriced, no more than Audi. I think Mercedes is way overpriced, since the E320 AWD can cost more than an A6 4.2 or BMW 540i. If you want all wheel drive and car that is still fun, but probably a little more lexus like in the ride department, then get the Audi. Add the sport package if you want it to be more BMW like than Lexus like. I would say that Audi can give you the best of all worlds in a great looking environment at a competetive price.

Default Let your *** decide, not ours!

I really wanted the BMW, but when I considered how close the A6 was in almost all aspects and how much I would save, that swayed me.

You, on the other hand, sound like you might always regret not getting the BMW, so why not go for it?
