Default Anybody ever have their AM reception suddenly go to crap??

I have a guy with an 01 A6, that suddenly the AM reception went out, it's very fuzzy, crackly and weak. Interesting side note he said the NAV went out at the same time. It's early style US NAV with antennae on the trunk lid, don't think I remember seeing any others mounted there.

Default I can't speak for the NAV but with regards to the AM reception it's most likely the AM booster and

the antenna amplifier wiring.

8E1035550 - Wiring loom.
000098700 - Aerial wire.
4D0035530 - Switch box/Antenna module.

Default Yes, still haven't gotten around to fixing it. It's likely one of the diversity antenna amplifiers

There are multiple (I think 4) antenna amplifiers scattered around the car. One of them (I think it's just one) also handles AM radio, and when it dies you lose AM reception.

Default IMO, most likely not an antenna amplifier problem, but the antenna traces on the window....

They may check out with an ohmmeter, but for some reason will not operate at radio frequencies. BTDT.

Default Have never really had AM reception to speak of.... even the local 50,000 watt

station barely registers in my car.

Default hmmm...yeah, that's the one. Maybe I'll take a look at it, 'cause it would be nice to

be able to listen to the Sox w/o a ton of static.
