anyone ever heard of a SWEATY transmission?
I took my 4.2 for a routine oil change at my local dealership yesterday and I told the service guy to check out my catalytic converters because the right hand side one was making a funny knocking sound. Sure enough the cat on the right side is out, he said it somehow fell apart inside. While the service tech was under the car he said there was fluid coming from the transmission and that the main tranny seal may need to be replaced, also under warranty. He told me that they wiped down the trans and when I come back in a week if it is oily still then they would repair that at the same time as the cat. I asked him why else it would be oily other than a seal being bad, he then went on to explain to me about how the transmission may "sweat" and that could be the explanation. So I told him that my understanding is that these transmissions are sealed from the factory and there must be no other way for it to leak or "sweat" unless there is a bad seal. He started backtrailing from that point on, what can I do to make sure that will get fixed when I take that car back to get the cat replaced? Because I dont want to have to deal with replacing that transmission any time soon.

The only thing I can think of as a means of understanding his term 'sweaty' is that....
he could be refering to the posibility of a slightly pourous casting allowing a small amount of fluid to 'seat' through the casting.
I have never seen it but I suppose it is technically possible.
