Default Anyone get after-warranty assistance from Audi?

I have the usual oil leakage problems (cam seals, oil pan, etc.) from my 99 A-6Q with 79k.
Audi said I am out of luck, and the repairs are about $1700.00.
I heard of some who have had warranty assistance after the original warranty ran out, anyone out there??? Audi told me it's given on a "case by case" basis or some such crap, but won't detail what they mean by that biased decision.
I have always received after warranty help from other manufactures who know of an inherrent problem like this oil leak. Seems cheesy they won't stand behind their product. Thanks, Albany, NY area

Default well...

my car was barely out of warranty and I didn't even get any support for the crappy door trim that got pulled out. As of today, I still haven't taken the time to get it fixed... so I have to open the pass. front door b4 opening the rear door.

it's a case of AoA not having as deep of pockets as ppl. make 'em out to be.

plus they asked me if I was the original owner... as if that is a determining factor.

good luck & sorry to hear about your problem.

Figures, and you wonder why other company's have better warranties....they (AoA) should take responsibility and stand behind a design failure like the 2.8 gasket-sealing problems. Very sad...

Default Other than the cruddy brands who has a better warranty? BMW & Benz are the Same

Japs are the same (Infiniti does go to 60K). Only diff is in the CPO warranties. Now, if you want a Kia, Hyndai, or Subaru be my guest, but the reason they have the warranties is because of their HORRIBLE track records and the have to re-establish credibility in this marketplace.

Default Well, it's a bit far out of warranty. Are you the first owner?

Do you have all the receipts showing religious maintanence of the car since new? Sometimes that helps.

Car makers build a product to a price, not engineering perfection. At some point they have to sign off taking responsibility for it, and the owner assumes the risk. Want to be covered all of the time? Never keep a car beyond warranty.

Remember all those Toyota engines with oil sludge and gelling? They were very reluctanct to admit a problem and now make people jump through hoops to prove they have taken care of the car. BMW had the same kind of problems when their M3 engines kept exploding. Admit nothing, make the customer prove everything.

All of that on cars less than 5 years old and less than 80K miles. If Audis were complete paragons of reliability, they would cost a lot more than they do now:-)

Out of calendar warranty by 10 months, under mileage by 1000 (49k)...2000 2.7T. They paid 50% parts and labor on a new gauge cluster (LED's out in lines...common per the search feature of the forum). I paid 275 to fix it total.....

I suspect mark-up is 80%, so they probably broke even. The SA was suprised.

It did help that this was my 5th Audi, and two family members bought Audi's because of me so far, two more are coming....and this could all be verified.

Thanks guys, appreciate your input on this....still feel a matter of principle applies here....if GM can extend a $2500.00 Transmission replacement at 100K mis. on a 6yr old vehicle, AoA should certainly entertain an obvious (premature) gasket failure on an engine that has been replaced by one that apparently doesn't leak from every orifis at 75k. I guess you don't always get what you pay for...
