Default anyone have any tricks to removing a seized lug nut?

I did the brakes on the left side, got done, removed 4 out of 5 lug nuts to find that the 5th is really on their good.

I sprayed wd-40 on there, and nearly put my back out trying to get that lug nut off. Anyone have any ideas what to do?

I wouldnt think it would be safe to drive with new pads and rotors on one side and old on the other.

thanks

Default If you have a good impact wrench there is no such thing as a siezed lug BOLT. Grease or antisieze...

the threads and spherical face of the bolts before replacing.

Wouldn't that just make the problem worse?

Default I agree with ya, seized from what my muscles are capable of doing

Honestly I have a tire shop 1 mile down the road that could probably loosen the nut for me, do you think it is safe to drive with new brakes on one side and warn on the other?

If it isnt safe I wont even consider that plan,

thanks

Default Have you tried increasing your leverage with a length of pipe? If still stuck...

and you have no access to an impact wrench, you may have to resort to whacking your lug wrench with a mallet as a last resort.

Default Two ball peen hammers.

Hold one with the rounded end against the lug nut. Hit hammer one with hammer two (face to face). Hard! Don't miss!

I do it all the time when the car is on the lift and I don't feel like dropping it down and using a breaker bar.

BTW - Where are you located? If near Central CT, bring it by; I'll loosen it for you.
