Default It's happened to me. Put the four lugs back on tight and start with the frozen fifth.

That's been my remedy. Hope it's as easy for you.

There is a severe risk one of the hammers could shatter - wear goggles before you try this method!

Have you ever seen ANY modern hammer shatter? Didn't think so.

Sure. Drive it. No worries. Unless the pads are totally different types you won't even notice.

Seized, not stripped. Sounds like he gets a bite but can't turn it.

Default How do you know the makeup of the steel in the hammers he is going to use?.....

I would always recommend the wearing of goggles for this type of solution, it is follhardy not to wear them even if you know the steel will not splinter or shed any fragments.

Default Myth busters recently tried to shatter a hammer, it wouldn't happen

they even went beyond how hard any of us could swing a hammer. Safety glasses are always they way to go though.

Default The theory is still sound that the "could" be made to shatter.....

but it probably dates back to the days of not-ductile steels or cast iron being used, I have to agree, I have never seen any signs of a hammer head failing.

Regardless, guys, I think we can all agree that it would be prudent to wear safety glasses.
