Default Anyone here chipped a leased car?

I'm thinking about leasing a brand new A6 4.2.

Has anyone here chipped a leased car? Is that a really stupid idea?

Default You can chip it if you want. Make sure your dealer doesn't find out you have it

Make sure to switch it back to original part for service or when you return it.

I dont see where the chip would really hurt a 4.2

And when you get ready to turn it back in, you could always sell the chip to someone here. So you would get a buck or two back.

Not endorsing the idea, just listing it as an option,,,

Default You can do anything you want (almost) to a lease

as long as you can undo it before you return it.

But be aware that there are potential warranty issues when you chip, lease or not. Some dealers are cool about it, some run screaming.

Default And if for some reason the next owner learns the car is chipped and has parts of their warranty

voided as a result, they can pursue legal action against the previous owner who modified the car and concealed what they did. CYA.

I'm assuming there's no way to trace the chip after it's out?

Default Depends what kind of codes are left behind. You need to clear all codes - in which case that

can look a little odd too.

Basically if you choose to chip, then you need to accept some risk.

What next buyer? Buy it yourself (like Ming is doing). No worries.
