Default anyone here go from an A6 to an A4.......

Im thinking about trading my A6 in for the A4. I love the A6 but can't afford a new one right now and don't want another used one. Anyone do this and regret it?

Default I went from an A4 to an A6

Trust me, you will regret it! The size and space of the A6 is much more than the A4. The plushness of the ride and prestige of the A6 is well worth the extra money. The A4 does handle better and have a more sporty feel.

Here is a pic my previous 4.

Default I drive them both

All I can say is that I'm used to drive a large V8 car and the A4 is more a small engine small fun car. It is way more pleasure to drive on twisty roads then the A6 and feel as stable as the A6. The engine is noisier and there is more wind noise comming instide the car. I prefer the A6 for long autoroute trip but prefer the A4 for city use, but I'd like more power. If you don't really need the extra space offerd by the A6, the A4 is really nice.

Default We have one of each...

My wife drives an S4 and prefers it over my car. She thinks my A6 is too big and not nearly as much fun. I drive the A6 and quite frankly, just like one's kids, I love them both differently yet equally. The A6 does have an added measure of prestige over the A4, if that matters at all.

The S4 would be too small, IMHO, to be a daily driver for me. But what it lacks in space it makes up for in the "fun-to-drive" category. If you need space, I wouldn't do it. Our S4 is the prior body style, to be sure, but from what I have seen, there was not a huge increase is usable space in the new car. Bottom line, in my mind, are your space requirements. Both cars are equally competent.

One potential solution - an A4/S4 Avant. I wanted one before I went with the A6...I still kinda wish I'd gone with the S4 Avant sometimes.

Default The new S4 Avant is coming...

...and only has two problems:

1) It's still too small, yet weighs only 100 lbs less than an S6 Avant (according to Audi's figures)

2) It will not cost half as much as an S6 Avant (my only problem with my S6 Avant is that it costs precisely twice as much as a perfectly nice A4 Avant).

Have you considered a WRX instead?

Default Yes, and waiting patiently [mostly] for my A6 to be returned from the Dealer

"Small oil leak to be fixed in two days"...now into the second week of waiting. They lost the technician, then the service and parts manager went on vacation, then ordering issues related to the gasket that is not in stock, then...well you get the point.

AOA is loaning a new, very low miles A4 for weeks which is a management issue for them : Waste of their assets.

Now, I really appreciate my A6 even more.
