Anyone see the Volvo V50 print ad? Nearly an A6 twin in profile

complete with "wine glass" wheels. The red wagon in the ad looks a lot like an A6 Avant in profile.
Hmmmm. 72 cu. ft. of space for $26k+, if I were shopping now (I'm not) it would argue for a look, though I think this is a Mitsubishi based Volvo, no?

If you could go back in time 25 years and show someone a lineup of modern cars, they would have a hard time distinguishing them.

...and seems well done. Size wise it is much closer to an A4 than an A6. Volvo has tweaked it enough so that it feels like a Volvo rather than a Mazda or Ford......

I agree in the 3/4 view it's more Mazda-like. The side resemblance was much closer to the A6.

It was a leftover deal from when Mitsu and Volvo were much closer. The funny thing is then they assembled the sucker in a Daf plant in the Netherlands. That was most certainly a bastard child.
The current generation is as others have said, based on the latest Ford Focus/Mazda chassis. Ironically, Ford America is going to stay with the old Focus, because they are concerned about potential reliability issues with the new platform.
