Default Anyone test/repair air bag modules?

The '01 2.7T I just bought had air bag alarm, fault read 65535. Picked up a used module, a real PITA to get to to replace, and the new to me used module is not communicating when trying to reset Air Bag light with my buddies reader now.

Is there something else that needs to be done to get it to communicate or is the module I picked up NFG?

Rather than keeping monkeying around with used modules, does anyone know who tests/repairs these things?

Thanks
Glen

I replaced mine on the A6 without any issues. Are the part numbers (and letters) identical? Some used modules are dead to begin with, if sourced feom a wreck.

Part numbers are identical, not sure if it came from a wreck or not. Evidentlyu it is a dead module.

Thanks for the lead, contacted them, they can only remove code if the car was in a wreck and airbags activated, can not troubleshoot a dead module.

65535 is Internal fault. Common on CR16 processors. As is not communicating for the same reason.

The module you picked up is no good. I do repair SRS modules, but once these go, its unfixable. You have no choice but to get another one. Sorry.

Thanks for the input. What are consequences of not fixing besides air bag light being lit? Will air bags deploy in an accident?

No. The airbag module CPU is fried.

Yes if its only 65535 code, no if no communication. HOWEVER. 65536 WILL LEAD TO NO COMMUNICATION SOONER OR LATER.
