Default Is anyone using the grooved Bilsteins with H&R race springs?

My car has the sport package and I currently like the ride height. I could get away with using the Eibach Pro-kit or H&R sport springs, but the springs are to soft for my taste. I like the spring rate of the H&R race springs, but it lowers the car 1.9" in the front. I was thinking of getting the grooved shocks and putting the springs on the highest setting so the car wouldn't sit as low.

The only other choice is to get coilovers. That would double the price for a decent set.

The curbs in my area are very tall. My wife isn't as careful as I am when opening the door. Any lower and you have to get out of the car first before parking.

Default Are you sure that's really what you want? The race springs

are an aggressive spring...hence the designation. They really need a shock "matched" to their rates to work well, and that's not the Bilsteins. I've had sport springs that were much more "aggressive" than the shocks, and the results were terrible, and thats only the Eibach sport springs with the factory OEM stock shocks!
IMO you're doing the same thing.
Just my $.02, but I don't think you will like the results.

Default Re: Are you sure that's really what you want? The race springs

I had the H&R race springs in my last two VWs. I tried the following springs in other VWs, Acura GSR and M3:
Intrax, H&R Sport, Eibach Pro-kit, Neuspeed Race and Sport, and SRS springs. The SRS springs were the best, but they don't have any Audi applications.

I only like the H&R race and they work well with Bilstein sports. The A6 is heavier so I can't imagine the ride being any worse than the GTI.
