Arizona: Mecca of Window Tinting

Just got back from there (and Palm Springs). Seems EVERYBODY does tinting. Question: My buddy who lives there has his driver and passenger side windows tinted a little lighter than rear and back windows. My new car is "on the water" and should be here in 3 weeks or so (Yee Ha!). Never occured to me that this might be a smart thing to do. Looking for opinions. TIA.

...especially on the A6, which has big windows that let in a lot of sunlight+heat. Metallic tints will reject heat better, but may interfere with your radio reception...I lost all AM reception in the A6 after installing Formula 1 Premier (metal) tint. Go to a reputable tint shop...make sure to ask about state laws regarding window tinting.

window behind the driver you can paint black if you like (if you have two exterior mirrors). A very light tint on the fronts will be an unlikely cause of trouble with the law though.
If I lived in AZ I'd have the fronts done lighter than the rear sides and rear for visibility purposes (but darker than I had done here in CA).

Ignore the post about reduced visibility. Unless you are tinting at 20% or so (20% of light can get through), visbility simply isn't an issue, day or night. I have 50% in front, and 35% back (Va. Law) and not the greatest night vision, and I have no problems whatsoever. It's much cooler, and less distracting.
