I want to get rid of a rusty tow bar/hook/whatever (unsure about what it's called as English is not my primary language) because it ruins the looks of the car, which is in pretty good shape otherwise.
It's a 2000 A6 and to do this I need to remove the rear bumper, you know the lower plastic part. It's pre face lift so I believe this section looks a little different compared to how it looks in the online guides I found by googling. I've found the 3 screws on the inside, kind of just below rear lights, but those 3 screws hold the mid section of the bumper (marked by green arrow in image). However I need to remove the plastic bumper part. I think I need to remove the whole plastic section, but I suppose if it's possible to remove only the lower part of the plastic section (red arrow in image), I could give that a try first.
I've searched but I can't find any screws below the ones holding the painted section of the bumper up.

Two things. Your English is great for a second language. It's better than most of us and it's our first. ![Big Grin](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Second, that hook/loop is welded to the car.
Why not just get up under there and saw it off and then grind the stubs so they aren't sharp?

Thank you for that link. I had trouble finding those two hidden screws, but that guide was very clear.
Huskerbob, I don't think we're talking about the same thing. I'm not really sure what it's called.
This is what I'm planning to remove:

I have one of those hooks and it's completely rusty. The electric socket used to connect the lights of a hooked up wagon is so rusty that I doubt it even works (never tried it, it was there when I bought the car).
