Audi A6 C5 and 4B - Different?
Hi all
I've a year 2000 A6 which I assume is a C5 model.
I want to uipdate my lower front grill and found the following on Ebay :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43118&item =7984340874&rd=1
Says it's for an A6 4B model - Does anyone know if it will fit my car?
I've emailed the seller but haven't had a reply.
Cheers

A 2000 A6 would indeed be a C5 model. As for a 4B, I'm a bit confused: the C model line
is the A6 line; the B model line is the A4 line. So there can be a C4 (older model) A6, or a C5 (yours) or a C6 (new model) A6. But I don't see how there and be an a6 B4 model.

Same. 4B is the internal chassis or type code and C5 is the more common platform code.
Note that our parts numbers generally start with 4B.
To answer your question, it "should" fit. Note, though, that I have no personal experience with this vendor or product. The only caveat I'd throw out is that there might some differences between US and European/RoW grille openings since the bumpers are different.
absolutecqv bought an aftermarket bumper here in the US that is Euro-style, and I think he found that the US grilles didn't fit. Of course, part of that might have been due to the fact that the bumper was aftermarket and not OEM.
Since you're in Europe, though, and the vendor and auction is UK-based, you're probably OK. Worth confirming with the seller, though.
Good luck.

You may rest assured that if the part numbers and/or car model are
not exactly the same that the part will not fit.
If it can be made to fit is another question and can only be answered by someone who has done the exact same thing you wish to do.

Re: Audi A6 C5 and 4B - Different?
Thanks guys
Guess I'll have to wait for a reply from the seller - although after waiting 3 days I'm not imspired with confidence.
From the photo shown the grill definately seems to be for an A6 and for £29 looks a pretty good deal as I've been contemplating doing the DIY mod myself but feel this grill may look better and last longer.
