if its the front seal on the transmission suddenly leaking i would like to place bets that just putting a seal it will not fix it. How many miles? I take it youve never service the transmission fluid. Probably wore the front pump out from lack of good lubrication, the only time iv seen front seal leaks in O1V transmission is from worn pumps which = new transmission.

But if the engines just running rough, why would that be transmission related....transmission will do some funny stuff if the engines running like garbage

I've had the car checked and is already undergoing repairs...

1. Prospeeder and SloopJohnB@mac.com is right, the front pump developed a crack and a piece of it splintered which caused the noise coming from the trans

2. The mechanic removed the transmission and is redoing all the seals, fixing the front pump

3. I bought a trans rebuilding kit for it, so changes include new clutch for the gears

4. Torn engine support

My transmission issues started a few weeks after i did a transmission fluid change; the car's transmission has never been serviced so maybe with the new fluids the seals just couldn't keep the fluid in.

Hopefully i get my beloved car back this weekend; repairs were a bit expensive, cost me around $2000 for parts and labor. My only consolation is that i didn't have to replace the whole transmission.

Btw, the mileage when this happened was at ~80,000 kms. I use the car as my daily driver, but my commute to work is only around 4km, which explains the very low mileage

Thanks for the replies and i will update this thread again when i get the car back

[QUOTE=jseklund;24481347]Judging from the description of the leak, it could be tranny fluid - which should be a dark red color.

Just for your info....the tranny fluid is not red. It's yellowish and almost clear. If it hasn't been changed in a while, it can be brown.

A transmission rebuild is about $3000 for a full rebuild, but if your car is worth more than that to you, that's what I'd recommend. A new Audi is $40k to $50K. I had mine rebuilt 50,000 miles ago and it's still perfect. '01 A6T with 154,000 miles. Just my humble opinion, though.
