recently got an a6, its 2001 1.9tdi, the front doors are really hard to close properly when its cold out side, tried to put alot of wd40 to clean it, and also did a reseach said blow loads of hot air into the lock, it was working great when blow air in, but after it cools off , it all comes back.
any idea how to fix this????

Basically I have to use soft and gentle force to close it. Slamming, or just lightly push the door in will not work. I have to guide the door and lightly push it in (very hard and requires weeks of practice)

Use a heavy lithium grease, and spray it into the latch.

Got the same problem here. One thing that seems to help is to lower the window a couple of inches. Lowers the resistance combined with a smooth but firm close and it usually works. Will have to try the lithium grease. PB Blaster did nothing for me.

Hi SC

I've had this issue for a while now on both fronts and even one rear. I've tried the grease and various penetrating oils, but it comes and goes. Mine also only starts this **** when it gets cold.

The last time it started acting up, I look at my catch (on the door) more carefully and noticed that the center of the "claw" (the part that raps around the catch on the car), was "mushroomed" a little, so I was thinking it might be going in too deep and hitting the catch too hard. I figured I would try adjusting the catch in (towards the driver) just a hair to see if it helps. This was kinda my last resort and so far so good!

Might be something to consider if yours acts up again.

Cheers
