Is the Audi Extended Warranty the only choice in California???
I've been searching the web and found that Warranty Direct (a reputable company) is the only company allowed to sell extended warranties in California. So I called and they don't cover twin turbos. What gives? Does Audi have any competition?
Got quoted $2800 for 3 years/100k on my 2001 2.7t in the Bay Area. That's $78/month because I'll hit the 3 yr mark before the mileage.

I tried Warranty Direct. Offer a range of coverage. Their best is better than the Audi one, but...
... more expensive than Audi's. Not sure about turbos.
Warranty Direct covers all but a list of items, "exclusive." They also cover items that wear out, whereas there is a clause in the Audi contract that says they're not responsible for wear out beyond the original 50k period. The Audi one also probably ties your servicing to the dealership, which costs more than qualilfied independents. So the Warranty Direct is the better coverage.

Your bank account?
Two ways of looking at this. California is protecting its citizens by keeping out warranty companies -- many of which fail or are in the business of denying claims.
Or, with it's anti-business environment, California is suppressing it's citizens' ability to buy key services.
Either way, after looking at all the issues and information, I'm going warranty-free.

Warranty Direct is one of the best...
Even my Audi dealer was impressed. But they are not cheap!!! I did repairs on my car done at the dealer and they covered 100%. They can pay the dealer or repair location directly, or you can choose to be reimbursed an pay the dealer. Many dealers prefer that so they have less paperwork to do. They reimbursed so fast. Last time I used them was for a wheel bearing replacement. The work was done on Thursday, fax them the bill on Friday morning...I had the check on Monday. Cannot be faster than that....

No, check with the dealers in your area.
Many dealers offer coverage other than the Audi product. And some have several choices. Mine, (who is also an Infiniti dealer) offers a Nissan product that is more comprehensive and less expensive.
