Default Audi recall service, being fooled by dealer

During the 75 minutes waiting time, I checked every 15-20 minutes and my car was not touched. After that, I was very surprised when the service advisor handed me the car saying it's done. How can they finish a 60-90 minutes job so fast? But they did read my odometer. The instrument cluster was not removed (it will reset trip odometer to zero when harness is unpluged). Afterwards I removed the lower dash board and fuse compartment cover, as expected, I found nothing new installed. I'll write to AOA about this issue. But in the mean time, if anyone can provide photos indicating the plastic cover and felt installation, I highly appreciate it. Also any experience/suggestion with this issue are welcome.

Default Recall does not require the instrument cluster to be removed...

instead, they remove the lower dash panel and place a piece of felt on the metal support near the wires in question. They also check to make sure your wire insulation is not damaged. If I had to do this myself, probably 5 minutes to remove the lwoer dash panel, two minutes to check and affix the felt, and 5 minutes to replace the lower dash panel. 90 minute job is a gross overstatement.

Default No matter...

Audi tells the dealer how much/time they can bill for a recall such as this. No one is being fooled. Keep in mind that time includes check in..check out..etc. Yes they kept your car too long for a while you wait.. but don't most dealers?

Right, waiting is normal. But I really doubt they did the installation.

Default I watched this install, it takes approx. 3 minutes!! So hold your horses until you checked.....more.

Open the access panel to the fuses and feel for the felt and watch for the black plastic part, it should be right where the aluminum carrier is.

Default Logic.. Ok Dealers aren't but give it thought...

We are talking about a recall that can result in to total frying of the electrical and possibly a fire in your car. Do you really think that any business would set themselves up for this kind of liability? It is possible, and if you think so.. just go to another dealer and have them do it. or open it up and look for yourself. It is possible, but not likely.
