Audi service policy

I hope to soon purchase an A6 from my local Audi dealer (the only one within 100 miles). When I mentioned I was going to check prices at other Audi dealerships, the salesman strongly suggested my local dealership would not service a car purchased from another dealership.
Obviously, this presents a problem.
Are we to believe there is a legitimate purpose for this policy other than to limit competition?
Does anyone know whether AOA approves of this policy?

No, Audi doesn't approve, their warranty is honored everywhere. This is a common trick with dealers. They may give you a little guff when you bring your car in. But in the end, they are paid by Audi to provide the service, and they actually make a profit on it! So they aren't likely to refuse you service.

I bought my 98 A4Q near my work location because the sales person was fantastic. Found out the service group was terrible so switched to the dealer closer to my house. Service has been excellent at Holberts Audi, Doylestown PA. They did not treat me differently because the car was purchased elsewhere which makes me want to buy my 2.7T from them instead.
