Default Audi v60 HF kits (long and x-post)

Okay folks, I just did training on the new phone systems, pretty damn cool but alot of cashola with on-star etc..anyway, there has been some questions about OEM hands-free kits.
Basically Audi will only guarantee the systems to work with the Audi branded v60, not the 'street' phone.
There are fundamentally 2 different systems...that for cars with on-star and that for cars without (and all TT's)
If your car has on-star you will have more functionality, the 3 big differences are:
-Voice Recognition - from the system, in addtion to that the phone provides.
-Steering Wheel Controls for the phone
-Phonebook download into DIS display
with the aftermarket and TT v60 kits you WILl have
-hands-Free (duh)
-Audio mute
-charging

The Audi branded phones are available for the following networks:
ALLTEL
Verizon
Cingualr
AT&T

so no Sprint, no GSM carriers...yet.

The retrofit kits are available for
All 02> A4's
2000-2002 S4's
Feb '99-2001 A4's
A6/S6/allroad 98> (black only?)
A8/S8 1998-2003 (Black only? )
TT 2001 red/baseball
TT 2000 Black

There are dozens of part numbers, I ain't posting 'em!

There are basically 6 pcs to the kit:
1)Install kit
2)Harness
3)Aux.Speaker (not req. for '02 A4's)
4)Molded Console
5)External Antenna
6)Coax Cable - only required for 02 A4's

For the TT there is just an installation kit if you have a car with factory phone prep (2002's only)

Okay gonna cross-post this bad boy, hope this is helpful!!

Default This may sound like an asinine question

But when you say black only for the 1998+ A6/All Road, 1998-2003 A8/A8L/S8 and 2000 TT and red/baseball for the 2001+ TT, you're talking about the portable phone handset itself, right?

I think he's talking about the arm rest integration kit.

Default Great Post! Thanks! A couple questions I still have

1. Please clarify: Can you or can you NOT use a NON-audi V60 if you don't have Onstar ('00 A6 4.2). (I already have the phone.) If you CAN use the non-audi V60 will it still auto-mute, charge, and allow hands-free operation?

2. If yes to above, any estimate on cost to install w/ dealer?

3. If no to any of the above, what's Audi charging for the phone?

Thanks

Default Cingular is a GSM carrier, as is AT&T on newer phones. V60 A has

different software, standard V60 will work, but with reduced functionality.

Default The kit is in the $2-300 range, and yes you can use a V60 phone

I have a V60t and will find out tomorrow if it all hooks up.

According to the integrator Cingualr is TDMA in many markets.
