Default Aux coolant pump - common to leak? service time?

I'm looking for a place that offers service time guides... I've seen a few places that offer the software but I'm talking only for audi's and preferably free. How long to do an aux coolant pump on the 2.7 and estimated cost? Are we seeing a lot of these out there? TIA

Default Uh... do a search?

Not sure why you're after service time. If it's worth anything there's a write up on this web site about an aux coolant pump change and it's excellent. I did the work to my failed aux coolant pump and had no problems per the instructions (do a search and there's a link somewhere). The only thing I'd add is this is where you can get the magnets: P/N 5862K25 at www.mcmaster.com

Default Huh, Dr.? What's this magnet stuff? What year 2.7? Did my '02, last Spring. It was a...

hose clamp problem. Nothing wrong with the pump. But further, the pump is absolutely bullet proof. Having a large diameter magnetic drive to the impeller, no chance for leaks. The pump should last forever, we'll see.

IIRC it was 4.5 hours of service time. $650 job at the dealer.

My write-up on diy replacement is here, under Tech Articles: https://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng.html. If you're at all handy with some basic tools, it's not that difficult. It does take some patience and care, though. And, just think, you'll get to know interesting and important things about your engine in the process. By the way, it seems that a fair number of A6 2.7T owners have been through this experience, so it's not uncommon. Good luck.

Default I removed mine without taking the >>>

manifold off then simply bypassed it. I'm not sure if I'll bother to replace it. If I do replace it I'm pretty sure I can do it with the manifold still in place.

Default Did mine last weekend, took me 6 hours

Have fun, be careful with the vacuum check valves. I broke mine and that cost me $25 more bucks...
