You may recall about a week ago I commented I noticed my aux fan running after shutting the car off... even though it wasn't very hot outside. In the years I've owned my car it RARELY ran even in baking Houston summer heat so it caught my attention. Fast forward a week and low and behold the car starts overheating. Long story short, the thermostat was sticking. Turns out the car was running hot but thanks to our center weighted temperature gauge it didn't really show anything suggesting it was running hotter than normal. Once the engine really overheated the gauge marched itself over 2 bars and threw up the red warning in the DIS.
Now that the wp, tb and t-stat have been replaced (yes, I'm still sitting down gently with minor wincing) the aux cooling fan is not running after I shut the car off--it's back to normal.
So, if your fan is running all the time or often after shutdown, be wary... gremlins are lurking just around the corner.

Original thread.

...you can see your actual coolant temperature to the nearest degree, even if your guage is pointing straight up, which it will do between 80 and 100 degrees Celsius. I'll leave it to someone else to post the link on instructions how to do it.
