Default Avant rear window washer / squirter repaired with more time than money or sense.

For the 2nd time, on two different A6 avants the rear squirter tube has self destructed inside the rear wiper motor. I repaired the last one nearly 3 years ago, only there was more left of that one to work with. This time I got to make new parts entirely.

The squirter tube runs through the center of the rear wiper motor drive shaft. No surprise that it isn't available separately. Just buy a whole new motor assembly, right? No.
Another case of planned obsolescence if you ask me.

When you try to spray off the rear window, you end up washing hatch latch instead.

This time, the copper tube didn't burst, the plastic guide bonded to the tube ceased to the inside of the shaft and when that happens, *snap*. The black piece in the center was originally part of what's still on the motor. On the right is the washer fluid feed tube.

Here's a nice post mortem exploded view of the works. It was only a matter of time before the copper corroded away.

...And replacement parts. Having a mill & a lathe in the garage is handy.

303 stainless elbow threads onto...

a 303 stainless tube that runs the length of the wiper drive shaft. Helical grooves for waterproof grease to wander around in. The small length of copper is for the nozzle to press into, and a new o-ring to go around.

Installed.

Default Sounds like a yankee workshop project. "and here I simply used my square hole drill to drill..."

Good job.

Default How much would you want to make the same parts for my car. Seriously.

I would love to be able to fix my rear wiper just like you did but don't have your talent or tools. I am serious, I will pay.
