I just did this on my car and it sounds a ton better - I just need to find that rattle in the dash now ; (

Something to add though if this is useful. The part numbers on my car (a 02/00 a6 2.7t) were the following:

4B0 853 290 - painted metal b pillar

4B0 853 590 - plastic cover over the bottom torxx screws.

If you have a rattle that seems to be comming from the passenger side of your a6 - I highly suggest you give this a shot. I left a very small gap between the pillar and the roof, not an 1/8 inch as the article suggested. The best part is you can't even tell.
