We also have an additional base in my wife's Civic sedan - it goes in, but it's a little tight to lift the seat in and out.
Now I know why families get larger vehicles, like minivans - for ease of getting around the carseats.

I hear you, the S6 has much more room than our Accord for the car seat
When we first got the S6, I saw it had passenger seat position memory, which struck me as a pretty pointless feature, until we installed the car seat, that is.
Now I have one of the button programmed to move the seat all the way forward, so I can push it and the passenger seat retracts out of the way to make getting the car seat in and out easier. Then the passenger can just push another one to move it back once the car seat is installed in the base.
