My BBS center caps are coming apart. I've had these rims a little over 3 months on my S6 and I've had to replace one full set of center caps and those replacements are failing now also. The cap is made up of a small metal disk glued to a convex surfaced plastic base clip. The adhesive cement used to hold the two parts together simply isn't adequate. I drive the car about once a month on the track and more frequently on "spirited" mountain drives, so I wonder if this isn't a heat related failure of the glue. I have aftermarket StopTech brakes, slotted rotors, & Pagid Orange pads, so the heat being given off is not out-of-hand; and there's no sign of heat damage to the plastic cap itself. I'd simply try remove the caps when I go for a hard drive, but short of actually removing each wheel from the car and pushing the caps out from behind, I've found no other method for there extraction. The caps fit so tightly that even small dental tools will not fit between them and the rim to pick them out; and I've also tried a heavy duty suction cup to try and simply pull them straight out, to no avail.
Any advise here is greatly appreciated. I'm not sure whether buying center caps by the Case is the road I want to take here.

That's wild, never heard of such a thing, particular from a BBS product. I have their RX rims, and use their caps, without such incident.

adhesive that might do the trick. This is of course assuming the bond is failing on the plastic surface. This adhesive is not a consumer product, however if you still have the old caps I would be happy to try a repair. email me if interested.

Scheibe >Al<
Krallen >PC+ABS<
As I see it, that's literally a 'disk' made of aluminum attached to a 'claw' of poly-carbonant & ABS plastic?
The aluminum disk is less than a 1/64" thick and seems to want to return to a flat shape, but it's glued to the plastic, which is quite arched in the center, with a 1/16" lip around the outside that meets flush with the disk so that it's edge is actually recessed down in.
The glue is brown, porous, and quite hard; and was applied only to about 5/16" from the edge all the way around. I don't see anyway to remove the disk the rest of the way, as the bond is very strong, yet the memory of the aluminum is also strong enough, I can't image it could be forced into the correct convex shape while reglueing without a well designed little gig and clamp.

increase in heat. The SSR centers are solid aluminum, different alloy than the wheel I think and they pop off. Its not a flex thing, I can be cooling the stationary car down after a session and have the centers pop like a broken toaster. I'll bet the glue gets over its temp and wont do its job after that.

I have Ronals and have had BBS. Your right about how tight the caps fit. The only thing I can think of is that it must be heat-related. Maybe someone on the S4 forum can assist you as well.
