I think GBW just did this not too long ago. Did you try STFA?

Default This may help some....but you really need to get a Bentley CD

Here's my summary:

<b> Phase 1) Airbag Controller Replacement </b>- VAG-COM identified the problem as a memory error (6335 memory issue) in the Air Bag Controller. Time to find a new controller, so I called Shokan who wanted $485 plus shipping for a used part, then Force5 who wanted $160 for a used part...so I went with that. Out of curiosity I did contact the Clair Parts internet store....they wanted $293 for a new part. I'll have to keep them in mind next time. Of course, ordering the part was the easy part....it took me nearly three hours to remove the rear console, radio, HVAC controls and ashtray and then the front console to reach the airbag controller that lives under and behind the ashtray. Never could have done it without the Bentley.

Once I had the new airbag controller in place, I had to code it correctly for Ming II with the VAG-COM. The recode from the 00406 to 00307 went flawlessly....no issues, but I still had the Air Bag light on the dash with VAG-COM showing four codes for "resistance too low" A few drops of Stabilant 22 electrical contact solution were placed on the connection and.... no more Air Bag light! Not wanting to risk reassembly with out a test drive, I put about 30 miles on the car (with no heat!) in zero degree weather, still no light, so the console went back in. Putting everything back together was much quicker, only taking about two hours.

You start with the rear console and work your way forward. You'll need the radio keys to get your radio out (make sure you have the code) and I'd strongly suggest a VAG-COM to reset any CEL's or recode the Airbag controller.

You really should get a Bentley, it's well worth the cost...good luck and let us know if you need anything else...<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/208934.phtml">Console instructions...</a></li></ul>

Default How to reset Allroad/ A6 Airbag Controller ??

Greetings ALL!
I'm trying to replace defective airbag controller on my 2001 Allroad with a used one w/same part # that came from the totalled car. It needs to be reset 'cause airbags on that car were deployed. Anyone knows if I can do it using VAG-COM. As it seem to be almost impossible for that other controller to command airbag deployment once I hook it up to my car, I still want to hear from someone who may have exact same experience with this job. There is place called Airbag Systems that will reset the controller, but if it's possible to do the same job with Vag-Com without paying 3rd party it will be easier. Someone had done it ? Thanks !
