Default Audi was building real cars long before BMW was even building motorcycles.

And their early aero engines were actually designed by other companies and built under license because their own designs suffered from too much vibration.

They got their idea for an affordable small sports sedan from Alfa, who started the whole thing in the '50s.

It's understandable that he was unable to avoid the black hole effect and get sucked into thinking BMWs are better than any other car out there. What BMW is simply stellar at doing, is marketing. If only Audi had such a team. Each car has it's forte but no car is perfect for all people. The fact that he has to put down your car, shows his insecurity. Take a driving class or two via the QTR club and then school him in the very venue that BMW is supposedly superior.

Default Oh, and BMW's first car was a British compact economy car called the Dixie that

was built under license in the late '20's.

While Auto Union (Audi) was building:

Yes, DKW took up the bottom rung of the Auto Union family, and Wanderer the innovative affordable niche, but overall, the company offered a wide range of products.

http://www.germancarfans.com/classics.cfm/%20classicid/5040331.001/audi/1.html</a

Default You paid how much for that?

You didn't pay extra for the crappy styling did you? You're basing that comment on your extensive knowledge of the brands or are you feeling inadequate today? OK, those are the non-intellectual ones ;-)

Many Audi designs wind up in VW's and very few VW designs make it into Audis so a statement like that shows a lack of knowledge. It's more of a trickle down model versus a trickle up that most manufacturers use. Next time tell the BMW owner that if they were a more informed buyer and car enthusiast, they would likely choose the Audi.

Honestly, BMW's are great cars but their owners can be such ******.
