Default Best way to get tar off the paintwork?

I've got a load on the drivers door and sill

I bought some tar remover and its useless, no effect at all.

Its been on while and has set pretty hard.

Default Try some WD-40

or gas or kerosene. If this still does not work you can use some polish with a light abrasive or a clay bar.

Default try this

1) hit it with WD 40
2) rinse the area with warm soapy water
3) hit it with WD-40 again
4) rinse again
5) use claybar to remove the rest
6) wax the effected area since the wd-40 and claybar removed the wax too

Default Just tried it, no go, I don't think its tar at all. It's gloss black paint. How to get paint off?

Aaaargh!

I guess the Clay Bar's worth a go, and maybe an electric buffer with mild abrasive?

Hope the black paint comes off before the clearcoat

You can also try mineral spirits. That's what I use. It also works on reasonably fresh paint...

Default gasoline works very well.

just don't smoke while you use it.
then you must rewax the area.
