I first learned of BG44 when I used to 4-wheel. Many serious offroaders use it because their engines tend to carbon up from so much low speed time. Guys who did serious engine mods swore by it for virtually eliminating carbon build up.
The best method is to find a shop that offers the BG44 treatment via their proprietary system that uses more concentrated solution and works like a flushing unit. Last time I did it (5 yrs ago?) it cost about $75 (SoCal). Dumping it in the gas tank is much less efficient and probably much more expensive in the long run.

I still needed to have the carbon blown out of my 2.8Q at every service, even whilst using Mobil, Chevron and 76 gasoline which are all supposed to be full of detergents and putting in additional Techron.

than dumping the stuff into the fuel tank. I understand that the 5-valve engines are easily carboned-up from continuous low-speed, low-rpm operation.
