OK,
So I am getting a mtn bike to get back into shape, and need a way to transport it on my 2001 A6 Avant. I see there are basically 4 options.
1) Stuff it in the hatch back area. Not ideal, as the bike will get messy![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
2) Strap on bike rack. Better than #1, but potential to work loose and scratch up the hatch back door.
3) Trailer hitch mount rack. I need to install a trailer hitch, I can do that, not a problem. Could also come in handy with small trailers.
4) Roof rack rails. I have the factory side rails, what else is needed? I would, at least, need cross rails, then the bike mount(s). Would come in handy for skis and other things as well.
Suggestions??
Thanks
Rusty

my wife does not want any roof mount device. too high and too dangerous
we are looking at getting a hitch and one of the many types of bike racks that plug into the hitch receiver
most also tilt so that the rear hatch can be opened
this hitch got a good review as there is no bumper MOD and can be made totally invisible as the receiver is easily removed
Execuhitch - Manufacturer and Retailer of Hidden Tow Hitches for BMW, Mercedes, Subaru
