I have 96 A6 Quattro Wagon. I need to change shocks. Audi service person convinces me to get original Audi shocks. But my friends telling to get Bilstein. I do not mind to get litle stiffer ride, but my family will protest any kind of very stiff racing suspention. Can anybody tell wich one is better?
Also I noticed, that original shocks have screes on top of them. Does it mean, I can change the rebound? If, it sounds like a better option.
Thanks for the help.

I had Eibach progressive rate springs with Bilstiens on a 91 200q (same springs/shocks, actually). Ride was controlled, not harsh. I actually would have liked it firmer.
I will always put Bilsteins on any car of mine. If anyone says anything, tell them it makes the car safer and more controllable. A lot is riding on your shocks, as well as your tires.
