Oh, I forgot to mention I currently drive an 2001 Audi A6 2.7T and have owned it for 2 years now and put about 60k miles on it.
It now has 131k miles on it and its still running really well.

compared to the A6. It also felt narrower and much more cramped in the back seat. I have 2 kids so that mattered to me.
The G35s seemed to have more miles on them or were pricier. I loved my last Audi as it looked good and was tight all the way to 12 years and 120,000 miles.
My old Maxima was mushy and cheap looking and just didn't feel solid and I was worried that the 35 would get that way too.
Other than that, I thought the G35 was very powerful and handled well, better than an unmodified A6. A few mods to the A6 will correct that though. A turbo chip and sway bars should put it on par with the G35
It seems like the BMW 330 and the G35 are more comparable to the A4 as far as size goes.

Audi A6 2.7T. Not to mention the Quattro AWD system is far superior in other ways.
Of course there are several other reasons as well, but that would be the most significant.

IMHO the g35 4-door just does not look right. G35's are meant to be coupes. I almost bought a G35 couple, but then I saw my 4.2 and could not resist the V8 =) They are all great cars, but Audi has the rep for having the best AWD.
