Default Bose Radio

I was just searching through the forum to see if there were any advanced settings that I can tweak in my bose radio that came with my 2.7T (2002). All the advanced setting information i have been able to find are for the symphony radio. If anyone has any links or info I'd be greatly appreciative. Thanks!

There is no hidden EQ setting for the Symphony II in your 2002.

Default Bose speakers only work properly with a bose equalizer, which is......

...what the head unit supplies. It is a whole system, eq and speakers. The eq can be turned off with a VAG-COM

Default The EQ is to "tune" the audio to the characteristics of the cabin. There's no magic in the speakers.

The Bose speakers are cheap, cheap cheap. Granted the speakers individual performance characteristics will have impact but it is the acoustics of the cabin that are the determining factor for the EQ settings. I changed out the speakers and tweaked to my taste using the hidden EQ and am very pleased with the results. Changing to the right transducers will yield much better sound. Better speakers = better sound.

Default Careful. Cheap or not impedance is figured into bose amp/eq.

The impedance curve (across freqs)has a major impact on frequency respone. Both the car and the speaker characteristics are figured in. By the way, I've heard - bt do nto know - that the BOSE speakers are lower than normal impedance (<4 ohm).

Default Re: Bose Radio

Thanks for all the replies... I've been looking into pulling out the whole system, but I wanted to see what I could tweak, if anything, for the time being.. I guess I'll have to live with the Bose system for now...

I'm looking to get an Alpine double-din Navi head unit (<a href="http://www.alpine-usa.com/images/products/images/iva-w200.jpg" target="_blank">this one</a>), and I guess I'll do speakers shortly after I get that, or at the same time maybe...

Thanks again for the replies.
