Does anyone know if you can easily swap a bose stereo/speaker setup from one A6 Avant to another (model year 2001 to 2001)? I know the head unit is different, but I'm wondering if the speakers are the same except for the subwoofer or if all the components are completely different. And is there a cable run to the rear so that it's plug and play with a subwoofer or does a cable have to be run? thanks!

There is a seperate harness for the amplifier.

I wonder if a non-Bose equipped car is pre-wired for the Bose amp???

if a car is ordered from a dealer a certain way (ie:with a Bose stereo) then the car would be built with the Bose harness.

Other upgrade items like adding a changer or built in cellular are always listed as "pre-wired for xyz", as they can be dealer installed.

I don't believe the base harness from the factory is pre-wired for the Bose amp.

Disclaimer: This is only theory, and has not been proven.

but it would require extra parts and lot of hassle is sounds like? any other insights?

...the wiring harness can be made if your car is not preiwred for it, or if you cannot source the harness from a dismantler.
