Bought 19"x8.5" wheels, will 265 width tire fit? 1010Tires says I need 9.5" width rim for 265

So... My stock wheels are 255/40-R17, they're mounted on 8" wide rims.
I thought that 265 (increase of 10mm) would work, since the rim width is increased by 12.5 mm.
However, the tires I'm thinking of buying have lower profile - they're 265/30-R19, and according to 1010Tires, the widest I can go on my rim is 245.
Thoughts? Thanks!

Didn't see that in the list of your mods. Fbody twists quite a bit, a strut tower is great, and double-diamond subframe connectors are a necessary handling mod
you'll love how level and together the car stays after.
When you jack up front or rear wheel, the entire side lifts up.
Sigh, I miss my Z28...
And thanks for the wheel tip, I'm ordering 265/30-R19.

I'm running that size on my 19x8.5 and it is fine, I asked Tire rack the same question and they gave me the same answer as what you got, with a 30 series tire there is barely any bubble at all. I'd say get the 265/30/19, plus you'll save alot more $, the 255/35/19 is uber expensive.

He's right. I have 18x8.5's with 265/30/18 and they fit fine, but are slightly angled out. A 19x9 would lay the sidewall flat or perpendicular (90 degrees) to the road.

245/30-R19 or 255/30-R19 are about 40% more in cost, taht was the determining factor for me.
