Default Brake difficulties (long Thread)

Replaced the rear pads this weekend. Now I have a B-movie ufo somewhere back there. I think That I may have done something wrong reassembling the caliper carrier bolts somehow. Has anyone done this adjustment? If so 1)do I tighten it all the way down before setting the nut on the inside (toward you)? or do i set it loose?
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Default And here's a procedure....make sure it's not the dust shield touching the rotor

Default Re: What's your question??

There seems to be two ways of going about it.. either you tighten the carrier bolt way in, then set the nut on the inside, or you can set it loosely so that it has some play.. Which way works better (seems I did it differently on each side). I would like to know first so that I can just set it and forget it. Don't want to ruin another set of pads or my rotor or my caliper

Default Are you talking about the bolt that...

...goes into the guide pin (with the holding nut on it)?? You want to hold the guide pin nut and tighten the bolt down to proper spec. IIRC, the rear bolt also takes some loctite.

Default Correct, you need a slim 15mm open end spanner to hold the mounting pin....

as you use a 13mm ring spanner on the mounting bolt. The bolt should be renewed or at least, have loctite on the beginning of the threads.

It is worth cleaning up and re-greasing the mounting pin because the grease can dry out and then rust sets in and causes the pin to seize.
