Default brake dust woes...

Is there any treament I can spray on my wheels to prevent the extreme amount of breakdust that collects? I have to clean them constantly (every two weeks) and I was thinking maybe there was something I could spray on the wheels once a day or so that prevents break dust from sticking.

Unfortunetly I just had my pads replaced, and because the old ones were covered I wouldn't get the replacement + sets done for free unless I went with stock pads again. So I would rather not buy a new set when I have brand new ones anyways.

I have tried using the wheel cleaner stuff daily, but it really doesn't seam to help.

Any suggestions?

There was a thread a little while ago here about waxing and polishing to reduce dust.

A very thin coat of vaseline, or petroleum jelly helps a lot...

I have always had good luck using a cheap silicone based polish (formula 2000,etc) available at most discount stores. This polish is very easy to apply and I do it often. This won't stop the dust, but it will wash off much easier.

Wow, every two weeks? I think you're doing great - I clean 'em every two days!

Default Have you actually tried this?

For example, if you get tire wet (silicon based) on your rims, and then give it like 20 minutes of driving, your wheels will be in MUCH worse shape than if they had nothing on them, from my experience.

Default What are good dustless pads to use?

and do they work?

I have the stock ones in right now and it seems that the crud that is caught in the inside of the wheel is causing the outside to get dirty quick as it seems to start with these centrifugal flings of gook.
