So, recently my 02 A6 start to doing this symptom, brake light will display on the cluster which means one of the brake light went out( it is the driver side), however after 5 minutes the warning will go away and the brake light works again. Any idea what this might be? thanks

poor connection or light starting to draw excessive current relative to its twin in the circuit.

Sounds to me like you might just have a few bad bulbs. Sometimes, they will do some weird things. The filament may be broken and not connecting, and then as it heats up (or maybe just gets jarred a little), the filaments connect and the light works again...only to fail as soon as it's jarred or cooled down again. I would replace all the bulbs and see if it goes away.
