I have a 04 Audi A6 Quattro 2.7L and just finished changing the brake pads (Hawk HPS) and rotors (Stoptech). In addition, my dad and I bled the brakes the old fashioned way by pushing the pedal down and then opening the bleeders. I bled the brake fluid as part of the 2-3 year fluid replacement.
When I start the vehicle I get the 3 loud chimes and the brake light flashes after releasing the parking brake.
I've checked the brake fluid level and it is at the max line, so there's plenty of brake fluid.
Any ideas as to what could be causing this issue? The ABS light is not coming on and everything was fine before the brake job.
Thanks!

Beware the Hawk HPS. I despise them. Bed them properly. I hope you did new rotors at the same time. Never again for me! (tons of vibrations while braking)
Anyway, which brake light? Please describe in detail. There is a fluid light, a pad wear indicator, and presumably something monitoring the ABS. Describe.
Did you connect the sensor wires?

Thanks for the reply...
Yes, I changed the rotors at the same time and connected the front sensor wires. I bedded the brakes according to the instructions provided and the brakes feel and stop ok. Hopefully, I won't have the vibration issues.
I'm getting the three loud tones initially and then the red flashing brake light. The pad wear indicator light and ABS light are not coming on. It appears to be the fluid light although my fluid level is at the max line.
In researching the issue further, it seems it could be that the float inside the master cylinder resevoir is stuck and signaling the fluid level is low. I'm thinking about removing the screen inside the brake fluid resevoir to gain access to the float to see if I can move it around a little. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Ensure that the float in the resovoir is not stuck and that there are no air bubbles under the lip of the resovoir which will not allow a complete filling.

Thanks for everyone's help. It turned out to be the float. I pryed out the screen in the master cylinder resevoir and moved the float around a little and the brake light went off. I reinstalled the screen & cap and took it for a test drive and everything was fine. I must have pushed the bottom of the screen into the float when I tried to remove the screen while performing the brake bleed.
Thanks again and Happy New Year!
