Brake pads anyone, April are you here?
I need better brake pads for the upcoming Watkins Glen event on July 15 & 16. Should I get Porterfield R4S, Pagid S, or some other good track pad that won't kill the rotors? I always get lots of fade at these events and need to change pads. I wouldn't mind something that dusts less than stock pads but this is secondary.
Thanks

either pagid orange or porterfield R4 pads
The R4S pads are street pads the R4 pads are for track, they also have an R4E (endurance) pad. If you have stoptechs, you can get their stoptech red race pads.

I've run stock, Pagid Blue, Axxis, & Pagid Orange and by all accounts...
the Pagid Oranges are the best for performance and also reasonably low dust (relative to stock pads), but they are noisy in light braking. The Oranges are fine cold also, something to keep in mind with true 'race' pads, that need to warm-up to function well. The Pagid Blues seemed to get hot and breakup a little on the track (they were superior to the stock pads), but that's really not what they were made for. I never ran the Axxis on the track (they came with the StopTech brake kit I have on the car). Other good options are Porterfield, Hawk, Mintex (supposedly very low dust).
Another thing to do to reduce your brake fade under track conditions is a high-temp brake fluid, like Motul or Super-Blue. Boiled brake fluid will have seriously adverse affects on your cars braking ability!
Also, keep in mind, the better drivers out there don't beat-up their brakes or tires near as much as the newbies. Watch how your instructors handle their cars and try and emulate their behavior as much as you can.
