Default Yeah, i used a piece of that tape with foam on it..

like for sealing windows and doors...I put it around the piston where the channel locks were going, and it also held the boot back a little, and it prevented any danage to the metal...

I "rented" mine from AutoZone-brand new kit, no cost at all (deposit returned when tool returned).

Default Exactly. The bolts-torqued-on-by-God were the end of the DIY road for me.

You really need the right tool to get those mothers undone. I had to give up and pay a shop to do it.

Default Can you say "1,000 ft.-lbs. of Nut Busting Torque"

Sounds painful, but I have my order in with Santa for this. The Ingersoll-Rand 2135QTi on sale at Northern Tools.com and Amazon.com

Click Me

Wow. So you definitely shouldn't stick your pinky in there and test it's power.

I find it interesting that a tool can generate that much Torque, yet it's no problem holding it.

Default I guess it's because it's done in a jackhammer manner rather than constant.

The torque "curve" is probably very spikey, and the 1,000 lb/ft is so quick that it barely overcomes the inertia of the gun. Or maybe they're just full of it!

Lots o' RIM chatter in the office.
