does anyone know how hard it is to do a full brake job on a 2001 Audi A6 2.7T Quattro? the dealership is asking like a thousand dollars and i have some mechanical know how, but i wasnt sure if there are any special tools needed.

For fronts you really just need a few wrenches, a screw driver, and a good jack and stand with the how to instructions. For the rear you need the tool to wind the piston back into the brake caliper, or you will spend a long time trying workarounds with vise grips and pliers where you risk screwing up the piston or rubber dust seal. You can buy the tool on line or at a better specialty tool shop that sells automotive tools.
This assumes you don't need to pull the rotors off to either refinish or more likely, to replace. That's one more degree of difficulty, in that they are a bit prone to be rusted on and you need to be careful with brake lines, ABS sensors, etc.
