Well, believe what you want, but the guys on the 996 turbo board,
all say that the turbo's engine does need breakin. In fact, some say that breakin continues well beyond the 1875 mi minimum. I pity the next guy that buys a used turbo that's been driven very hard right out of the box. I'm breaking this new car in a little easier than my 1st one to see if I can get the oil consumption down from a qt every 2 tankfuls.

Other side of the coin...my '96 sedan was a company car leased from Rector, and when I bought it....
off lease I found out it was originally delivered to my company with 255 miles on it. It burns a quart of oil every 1500-2000 miles. My '98 quattro Avant (12v) was delivered with 12 miles on it, and I don't have to add a drop between 7500 mile changes.
