Breather hose issue for A6 2001 AWD.
Hi All, i have some weird situation with my A6.
i have 2001 A6 2.8 that is driving me crazy with oil leakage. i have got the seal replaced a while ago and it stopped leaking and one day i was replacing the plugs and wires and i accidently broke the Breather hose. i did not replace it right away, i waited about couple of months because of scool and work.
As soon i replaced it, the oil started leaking again and could see smoke coming it out from the passenger side. I figured the breather hose caused the oil to leak so i went it in there and unplugged one side of the breather hose. now it does not leak anymore but the "check Engine" light came on and also i also lost some power.
I need help on what causes the oil leak when i plug the breather hose in?
thank you for your time.

By breather hose I assume you are talking about one of the PVC hoses? Sounds like a blockage somewhere in the PVC system - hose off, blowby escapes out the hose; hose on blowby builds up pressure and pushes oil out the seals.
Pull codes and I bet you'll see other things as well.

It is also possible you just have excessive blowby from worn piston/piston rings such that the PCV system is unable to handle it.
If you cannot find a blockage in the PCV system do a leak down test on the engine...

My bet is operator error.
If the CCV system isn't working properly, you might as well replace the suction jet pump, CCV valve, the o-rings and gasket for the valley pan, and go ahead and get the coolant pipe o-rings and knock sensor while you're in there.
