Default Burning Oil Smell

I am beginning to smell a slight buring oil smell coming in though the vents and outside the car. I have a '00 2.7t and have had no problems with it so far. During my last oil change at 37k, there was no reduction in the oil level. Now, at 40k, I am down 1qt. I am using Mobil 1. Any suggestions?

Thank you

Default VERY common. Either cam adjuster seals or valve cover gaskets. I hope you have a warranty!

my car has had both problems, which were paid for by the Audi-assured warranty.

I do have a warranty thank god. I have read that it is a $1200 repair but the cost to me will be $50. Thank you for your help.

Yes it was...it happened on 1/4/04! And it burned down about 30% of my house along with a brand new Corvette!!! We're still working with Audi of American and the insurance company.

How do we diagnose these, can we physically see the oil on the engine (& where), or can we feel it with our hands down the sides?
