I was told by a service advisor today at Rector Motors in Burlingame
that if I decide to buy my 2004 Audi A6 2.7T tiptronic end of the lease in
October, that I may get it for less if I turn it in and then buy it
from them. Is this true? I would have to pay tyax and registration again
so I am wondering if it would work out. Car will have about 62,000 miles
on it. I am allowed 48,000 miles under the lease terms and the cost is
.25 per mile over.Would I still have to pay milage if I buy it from the
dealer?

on the balance of the car (since while you were leasing, you only paid tax on the monthly), but registration is good until whenever it is due again. You do not need to pay the excess mileage.
How much less the dealer pays, is something the dealer can find out for you. Speak to Murad in the sales dept and tell him I sent you. The rules change from time to time and I don't want to steer you wrong.

you drive so many annual miles, you could get a CPO for about $1300 -- it's not the same as full warranty, but a decent gamble for you since you'll likely hit 100,000 shortly after the 2 years expires. BUT be sure you get a full two years and not just 2 years from the date that you hit 50,000 miles.
BTW, get all your free maintenance NOW. You have a 50,000 service, brake fluid flush, wiper blades, etc. due to you. Get an indpendent instpection to be sure that you have no CV boot or cam adjuster seal issues now, as well.
Write me Mustbeaudi AT yahoo if you need a lead on a dealership I heard of should your store fail to offer a cheaper buyout - but they will if April knows them!
