The output of the AC in my 2.7T gets significantly cooler if the climate control is set below 70 or so.
You're sure the AC compressor hasn't been overidden (pushed the ECON button?)
BTW, I find the thermostat is off cal...the recommended set at 75 and AUTO results in an unbearably hot car.
