cam seal question

Below is a quote from a thread from 2005. 6ULDV8 is explaining the different part numbers of available gasket sets.
""With regard to the top end seals, here is what you need to know. The whole tensioner/cam seal job requires the following # of parts.
2 X 058 198 217 Tensioner gasket kit
2 X 078 198 025 Valve cover gasket
2 X 078 103 113B End cap
4 Cam seals
The first 3 parts are pretty straight forward, but you need to know this about the cam seals. Most parts sellers and dealers will offer to sell you 4 X 068 103 085A or 026 103 085D for this job. This is wrong as this seal has been superseded from 068 103 085A to 026 103 085E to 026 103 085F finally to 068 103 085E (made of silicon). There is a left directional only seal behind the left bank cam sensor 028 103 086A. There is a right directional only seal 038 103 085C.
Heres where they go. The 068 103 085E are the cam seals behind the timing belt sprockets. You will need 2. The right directional seal 038 103 085C goes behind the camshaft position sensor at the front of the right bank. The left directional seal goes behind the camshaft position sensor at the back of the left bank.
There have been plenty of these jobs done with 4 of the 068 103 085E seals with no problems, but the potential for major oil leaks exist. Check and verify with your dealer for any changes to any of these numbers. Chances are he will have no idea what your talking about, but its worth a call.""
SO my question is has anyone had experience with what he suggests? My dealer told me they were ordering the 026-103-085D gasket set to do my cam shaft seals. Should I call them and give them the part numbers to 6ULDV8 Silicone gaskets????
Has anyone used these before. Is it worth it to worry about it? His post is from 2005 so I thought I would try to get new opinions.

My question is this: If I only replace my valve cover gaskets and not the cam tensioner gaskets will the oil leak slow down to barely noticeable? That seems to be a small area for oil to leak. I'm just afraid of messing up the tensioner and having to purchase one or two at $400 +.

...the difference between cam adjuster seals and cam seals. There was a post on the difference very recently (STFA). Cam seals are not a major issue on these cars, if they leak, it's generally minor. The cam adjuster seals are another story; the end caps (078 103 113B aka "half moons") shrink and hemmorage oil, especially as the weather cools in winter. This can be accelrated by poor crankcase ventalation (suction pump).
